Preventative and Precautionary Measures Concerning the COVID-19

We have an update on the COVID-19 situation as it affects our faith formation programs in our diocese. Our modus operandi at this point is caution and preparation, but not panic. According to yesterday afternoon’s update from the San Diego County Health & Human Services Agency (SDCHHSA), “San Diego County’s general population is at low risk of coronavirus disease, or COVID-19.” In fact, there are still no known cases of COVID-19 in San Diego County.  The SDCHHSA webpage dedicated to COVID-19 is being updated daily with cases, investigations, and resources for the general public. They, along with several counties around the state, are holding news conferences today following the Emergency Declaration by Governor Newsom this week. The Office for Evangelization and Catechetical Ministry along with the Office for Schools are collaborating in keeping our constituencies in both parish and schools informed and safe. We will continue to maintain regular contact with health organizations, the public schools and the California Catholic Conference to provide further updates. We have developed bilingual resources for you to share with parish and school staff, students, volunteers, catechists and parents. For more information, visit here.
